Corporate Responsibility Awareness in the United Arab Emirates

This report is an outcome of the research undertaken by the Dubai Ethics Resource Center (DERC) and the Data Management and Research Department (DMRD) of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Corporate Responsibility (CR) in the UAE. The study is based on a primary survey that was conducted on the corporate sector of the UAE to ascertain the perceptions of business on core CR issues such as corporate governance, financial transparency, business ethics and social responsibility.

The purpose of the study was four fold; to gauge awareness of corporate responsibility in the UAE; to provide research material on the current status of the UAE’s CR agenda for local, regional and international stakeholders; to create an initial point of reference for future benchmarking of CR activity in the local market; and to provide the stimulus for additional research studies and tailored CR programs by DERC to better serve the CR needs of the local market.
